IAS officer arrested for shielding son accused of murdering their driver

The IAS officer in question is Agriculture Corporation Joint Director, Dharavath Venkateswara Rao and his son D Venkata Sukruth was involved in the murder of a car driver.

HYDERABAD: An IAS officer of Telangana State was on Tuesday arrested on charges of attempt to cause disappearance of evidence and for harbouring the offender, his son in a murder case.

The IAS officer in question is Agriculture Corporation Joint Director, Dharavath Venkateswara Rao and his son D Venkata Sukruth was involved in the murder of a car driver.

The murder took place on the intervening night of March 17- 18, at Sai Kalyan Residency when Sukruth and his mother’s car driver B Nagaraju was consuming liquor. After consuming liquor, the duo had an argument and ended up in a scuffle
when Nagaraju allegedly attempted to sodomise Sukruth, West Zone DCP A Venkateshwar Rao said

Sukruth hit Nagaraju with a brick, and then made an attempt to dispose the body with the help of his father but their efforts went in vain as the watchman of the apartments intercepted Sukruth while moving the body in a gunny bag.

After investigation, the IAS officer and his son were booked for attempt to cause disappearance of evidence and also harbouring the offender. Sukruth is also booked on charges of murder, said the DCP, and added that he will be remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
