HYDERABAD: BJP MLAs stalled proceedings of the State Assembly for around 20 minutes, alleging that Energy minister G Jagadish Reddy had passed abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his reply on energy demands, Jagadish Reddy refuted BJP’s Prabhakar’s statement that state had delayed in joining UDAY scheme. He asked BJP members to go to Modi and find out that the Telangana has got its share in Lower Sileru power plant.

Objecting to this, BJP members G Kishan Reddy and NVVS Prabhakar rushed to Speaker’s podium and staged a dharna demanding apology from Reddy.

However, Legislative Affairs minister T Harish Rao asked them why they were seeking apology. Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy requested them not to stall the proceedings.

The BJP members protested that the minister showed disrespect towards the PM in his address. Energy minister said he did not use any unparliamentary words and if so, he would say sorry and urged the Deputy Speaker to verify the records.

Even as the BJP members stalled the proceedings, the House demands for grants were passed and the House introduced three Bills.
