HYDERABAD: Law and Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy said as many as 2,91,701 cases of Telangana State were pending before the High Court. Replying to the demands for grants of Administration Justice in the State Assembly on Saturday, Indrakaran Reddy said another 5,38,131 cases were pending in the district courts and other courts across the state.


He said there are 29 vacancies of judges in the state. The minister said the state government was in touch with the Central government on the bifurcation of High Court. The state government told the Centre that it would allot a land for Telangana High Court, he said.


Meanwhile, while replying to Governor and Council of Ministers’ demands, Roads and Buildings Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao said the development of Telangana Bhavan in Delhi would be taken up once the assets of combined Andhra Pradesh were divided between the successor states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.  


“The Assembly is debating demands on Governor, Council of Ministers and others after 1996,” Nageswara Rao said.  Rao added that the State government had decided to set up a film institute in the state.


Congress MLA from Parigi T Ram Mohan Reddy demanded that the state government speed up the bifurcation of High Court. He wanted the government to construct a new building in place of the existing building of Telangana Bhavan in Delhi.
