HYDERABAD: In an act of so-called revenge porn, a 27-year-old man from Hyderabad allegedly sent intimate photos of his former girlfriend to her parents, brother and brother’s friends. Police arrested the accused on Saturday.
According to police, the victim, from Hyderabad, met the accused B Dinesh Kumar when they worked together. They became friends and allegedly started dating but broke up a few months ago. Dinesh, however, had wanted to marry the woman.
After she rejected his marriage proposal, Dinesh threatened to send photos of them being intimate and selfies to her parents. “The duo had taken photographs and selfies together. The accused used those pictures to defame the girl and take revenge against her,” said Cyber crime Additional DCP D Janaki.
The officer said that the woman even quit her job a month ago, hoping Dinesh would leave her alone.
“Even after she quit due to his harassment, Dinesh continued sending her messages. He sent the photos to the woman’s brother, his friends and relatives.
The girl also complained that the accused once snatched her chain to threaten her,” said the officer.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Dinesh was arrested under sections 354 D, 509 and other relevant sections of IT Act and was produced before the court for judicial remand.
