Satyam scam investigator may want transfer to Telangana

Celebrated police officer and 1990 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer, VV Lakshminarayana, called on the Telangana state Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Friday at the DGP’s office.

HYDERABAD: Celebrated police officer and 1990 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer, VV Lakshminarayana, called on the Telangana state Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Friday at the DGP’s office. Lakshminarayana’s surprise visit to the DGP office was considered important and a 30-minute-long discussion with the DGP ensued.

Speculations are rife among the IPS officers that Lakshminarayana, an additional DGP rank officer, is understood to be keen to shift to TS to work here  for sometime on deputation. Sources told
Express that he reportedly expressed interest in working in the state on deputation. It is also reported that the IPS officer reacted positively over police reforms being implemented in the state, especially utilisation of technology in detecting cases.

During his seven-year stint in the CBI in erstwhile AP, Lakshminarayana had investigated Satyam Computer scam in which B Ramalinga Raju was accused during the 2009-10 period.
Based on Apex court’s direction, he also investigated gangster Sohrabuddin’s encounter in which senior police officers were involved. He also investigated another encounter killing of Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad.
