HYDERABAD: For the man widely considered to be the next head of state police force, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had only words of praise on Friday. Such that he mentioned the name of Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy’s name over six times while citing various important decisions.

Three other IPS officers — Civil Supply Department Commissioner CV Anand, Additional Police Commissioner Hyderabad, Swati Lakra and Director of Enforcement in Excise and Prohibition Akun Sabharwal — were also praised by the CM.

With the generous words, it is believed that decks have been cleared for M Mahendar Reddy, now to occupy the post of state police chief. Reddy, the then Additional DGP of Intelligence in erstwhile united AP, during movement of separate Telangana state, has since then been in the good books of the Chief Minister.
