BJP intensifies ‘Operation Akarsh’ in Telangana

Ahead of party national president Amit Shah’s visit BJP appears to be gradually intensifying its “Operation Akarsh” to poach leaders from other political parties into its fold.

ADILABAD/ HYDERABAD : Ahead of party national president Amit Shah’s visit BJP appears to be gradually intensifying its “Operation Akarsh” to poach leaders from other political parties into its fold.
The saffron party on Saturday succeeded in wooing State ZPTC Members’ Forum president Koyyala Hemaji (Asifabad ZPTC member) into its fold.

Hemaji, who was earlier with the ruling TRS and was later suspended from the party, on Saturday said he had decided to join BJP. He claimed that he had been offered Bellampalli Assembly seat for next polls on BJP nomination. Sources said the saffron party leadership is in touch with some other leaders from TRS and Congress, who have a clean image in Adilabad and Peddapalli Lok Sabha segments.

As far as erstwhile Adilabad district is concerned, BJP is making efforts to attract leaders from other parties in Boath, Khanapur, Chennur, Bellampalli and Asifabad Assembly constituencies. BJP MLC N Ramachandra Rao and MLA G Kishan Reddy have already toured these segments to identify suitable leaders.

BJP state unit president K Laxman said many leaders from other political parties including TRS are in touch with BJP to take party membership.
