HYDERABAD: Haritha Haaram officer on special duty (OSD) in Chief Minister’s office (CMO) Priyanka Varghese wanted the officials to see that all the important roads in the state turn into ‘green roads’.

At a review meeting on Haritha Haaram on Monday, Priyanka told officials that Haritha Haaram was a priority programme of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. In the first phase, all the roads starting from Hyderabad to different places would be given priority in plantation programme.

The expansion of roads from Hyderabad to Warangal should not hamper the programme, she said. She recalled that around 5,500 trees were uprooted on Warangal highway for road expansion and the same should be compensated during the programme.

She directed officials to see that plantation was done before the rainy season. Later, Priyanka informed officials that the CM will participate in Haritha Haaram programme in July and also make surprise visits to some areas.
