Possible tie-up with TTDP divides Congress

The talk of a possible alliance with Telangana TDP has led to bickerings in the Congress state unit.

HYDERABAD: The talk of a possible alliance with Telangana TDP has led to bickerings in the Congress state unit.  It comes in the backdrop of All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice president Rahul Gandhi’s Sangareddy visit.

This was after senior leader S Jaipal Reddy’s remarks on Thursday that it would be open for an alliance with TTDP. Party MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and former union minister Sarve Satyanarayana dismissed any alliances.

“The Congress is strong in Telangana. We need not enter into any alliance with the yellow party,” Satyanarayana said. However, he said they will not mind protesting along with TDP to fight against the ‘anti-people policies’ of the TRS.

BJP chief K Laxman said: “A leader of the stature of Jaipal Reddy talking about alliances with a party that is considered ideologically poles apart to Congress shows that the party is certain of a defeat in the polls.” Irrigation minister T Harish Rao, welcomed the alliance. He said that the TDP is seen as an anti-Telangana party and a tie-up would ensure that the same image would rub off on the Congress.

Release white paper on Central funds, Congress tells TRS govt
Hyderabad:
The Congress on Friday, demanded that the TRS government release a white paper on the funds that the Centre has released to Telangana, so far. This comes after BJP national president Amit Shah’s claims on central assistance to Telangana.

“While Amit Shah is claimed that the Centre gave `1 lakh crore, KCR is denying the same. The people of the state should know the facts over the assistance,” former union government Sarve Satyanarayana said. He said that Rao was trying to appease PM Modi only to ensure that the BJP does not engineer a split in the TRS.
