After a two year delay, Yadadri power plant finally to see the light of day

With Centre giving its nod after two-and-half years, construction works began on the Yadadri thermal power plant at Veerlapalem village of Damaracharla Mandal in Nalgonda district.

NALGONDA: With Centre giving its nod after two-and-half years, construction works began on the Yadadri thermal power plant at Veerlapalem village of Damaracharla Mandal in Nalgonda district.
Chief minister K Chandrasekar Rao laid the foundation stone for the construction of the plant on June 8, 2015.  

For the construction of the plant, the government acquired 2,800 acres of land, spent Rs 20,379 crore and alloted turbines construction work to Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL).  The state government directed the officials concerned to complete the thermal power plant within three years and established superintending engineer office at Damaracharla.  Recently, CM handed over Rs 417 crores to BHEL CMD Athul Sobti for the first phase.  

The state government directed BHEL to provide jobs to 5,000 local unemployed youth.  In this connection, the company decided to give training to youths.  Meanwhile, on acquiring of 2,800 acres of land, GENCO allotted 250 acres for main plant, 350 acres for providing boilers, 100 acres for water storage, 250 acres for coal storage, 400 acres for Ash storage, 100 acres for the construction of residential colonies for power plant employees, 50 acres for pipelines and railway line, 75 acres for road construction and nearly 40 per cent of the total 1,225 acres of land for Greenbelt to avoid ill effects of emitted pollution from the plant.  The required 6.6 tmc feet water will be drawn from Krishna river which is far from three kilometres from the selected site.
