BHUPALPALLY: While the government is busy gearing up to roll out red carpets for technocrats and global leaders attending the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad, a tribal man in the very same State lost his life while being carried to the hospital on a cot -- thanks to lack of road connectivity.

M Jogaiah (50), belonging to the Gothi Koya tribe, was suffering from high fever. With no proper roads or transportation facilities, his family members had to carry him on a cot and walk for over five kilometres from their Rekulagudem hamlet in Kamalapuram forest area to a nearby medical facility on Sunday. Their efforts went in vain as Jogaiah died on the way.

Doctors told us that Jogaiah’s life could have been saved if he was brought to hospital on time, said his family members.

Jogaiah was reportedly unwell for the last one month. His condition deteriorated last weekend when his family decided to take him to the Primary Health Centre. But no transportation was available. The family has blamed the government.

However, Eturnagaram Integrated Tribal development Agency (ITDA) project officer V Chakardhar Rao, claimed that all the tribal habitations were well connected and that health centres are accessible. “We will probe the incident,” the officer said.
