TJAC’s stir for jobs can’t coincide with GES: Police to High Court

The proposed meeting of TJAC, Koluvula Kai Kotlata (fighting for jobs), to highlight unemployment, on November 30 still hangs in balance.

HYDERABAD: The proposed meeting of TJAC, Koluvula Kai Kotlata (fighting for jobs), to highlight unemployment, on November 30 still hangs in balance. This is after Telangana government on Wednesday told the Hyderabad High Court that it has no objection to accord permission to Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) to conduct public meeting “Koluvula Kai Kotlata” (fighting for jobs) on any other dates except for November 30, December 1 and 6.

In this regard, special counsel for Telangana S Sharat Kumar made submission before Justice S V Bhatt who was dealing with a petition by TJAC, represented by its chairman Prof M Kodandaram, seeking direction to the police to accord permission to its proposed meeting on “Koluvula Kai Kotla” at Saroornagar indoor stadium in the city on November 30.

Petitioner’s counsel B Rachna Reddy pointed out that the police (DCP, LB Nagar area) have refused to grant permission to the above meeting on November 30 for various illogical reasons. She sought to declare the action of the police as illegal. On the other hand, special counsel Sharat submitted that it would not be possible for the police to accord permission to TJAC’s meeting in view of the Prime Minister’s visit to the city by end of November to inaugurate Metro Rail project and ensuing Global Summit in the city to be attended by various dignitaries.

Other than November 30, December 1 (Milad-Ul-Nabi) and Dec 6 (Black Day) the police have no objection to accord permission on any other day as suggested by the petitioner organisation, he noted. When the judge sought response from the petitioner’s counsel, she sought some time to get instructions on the same. The judge then posted the matter to Thursday for hearing.
