PM Modi will inaugurate Hyderabad Metro Rail services on November 28

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Hyderabad Metro Rail between 3.30 pm and 4 pm on November 28. Later in the day, he will attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Hyderabad Metro Rail between 3.30 pm and 4 pm on November 28. Later in the day, he will attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) and host a dinner for the foreign delegates at Falaknuma Palace.Chief Secretary SP Singh conducted a review at the Secretariat on Thursday on Prime Minister’s visit to the city. According to the Chief Secretary, the Prime Minister will first inaugurate the Metro Rail and later proceed to HICC for GES.

The Chief Secretary directed the officials to make all the necessary security arrangements, and beautification works. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will receive the Prime Minister at Begumpet airport.The state government will also host a dinner for the GES delegates on November 29 at Gloconda Fort.

RTC to run 50 more buses connecting Metro stations
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation will run 50 more buses connecting metro railway stations on all the corridors in addition to the 1,700 buses plying on these routes.“We have decided to run 50 extra busses on ten routes, after studying the model of connecting the IT corridor with the metro in Bengaluru city. “ transport minister P Mahender Reddy told reporters here on Thursday.

The TSRTC would run required buses for Metro Rail commuters in all the three corridors. For every five to ten minutes one bus will touch a metro station, he said. Of the 50 additional buses, 29 will connect metro rail stations and IT corridor by six routes, and 21 buses will be connected to nearby colonies by six routes. Gitam University students carried out a study in 80 colonies situated between 24 metro railway stations on the Nagole-Miyapur route. As per the findings of the study, the buses will be run for commuters’ convenience.  The TSRTC may also think of pressing mini-buses into service connecting metro  stations.As of now, there is no proposal to issue combo passes for both metro rail and RTC buses. An agreement is yet to be signed by HMRL and RTC on combo passes, the minister said.

Bookings begin for Metro smart cards
Hyderabad:
With four more days left for the launch of Hyderabad Metro Rail, pre-booking for smart cards for commuting through the Metro Rail has begun.  The marketing officials of L&T  have started to take bookings from Hitec city. An official from L&T confirmed the booking for smart cards said. “The response is overwhelming considering its novelty but this is just like any other smart card that is meant for travelling in the Metro,” he said. The use of smart cards is restricted to tending tokens from the Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) as of now. Purchasing of smart cards, will however, start after inauguration of the Metro Rail.
