State government placing hurdles despite High Court nod to TJAC’s meet: Kodandaram

Kodandaram has said that despite the HC granting permission for the public meeting, the government is citing a ‘law and order’ problem to stop it.

WARANGAL: Accusing the TRS government of trying to place obstacles in holding their proposed public meeting, Koluvula kai Kotlata (struggle for jobs) in Hyderabad , Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram has said that despite the HC granting permission for the public meeting, the government is citing a ‘law and order’ problem to stop it.

Addressing a meeting of unemployed youth on Sunday, Kodandaram said the government was not allowing the meeting as it was afraid of getting exposed. “The government did not mind giving permission for the controversial entertainment event Sunburn Festival, which was refused permission in other cities of the country,  but was not allowing a meeting meant to highlight the issue of unemployment. This showed the double standards of the government.”

Justifying the objective of the proposed public meeting to highlight the unemployment problem in the state, the TJAC chief said that even after three years the government failed to provide jobs to unemployed. “The government does not have clarity on the number of vacancies in various departments. While the Chief Minister  gave a figure in the state Assembly, the recruiting body, Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), gave another. They do not even know how many posts are vacant,” he wondered and demanded that the government release a ‘job calendar’ so that job aspirants could know which department had vacancies and prepare for the examination.

According to him, the proposed public meeting would be peaceful and there was no need to worry about law and order going out of control. “The JAC has held several meetings without disturbing the peace in the society. This time, too, it plans to hold a peaceful meeting with educated unemployed youth demanding jobs on the plank on which the TRS came to power,” he said. He called upon youth to take part in large numbers in the public meeting which is likely to be held between December 4 and 6.
