HYDERABAD: Not a single central university, state university or private college from Telangana has figured in the recently released Swachhta Rankings-2017 of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

A total of 25 Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) figured in the rankings, which were awarded in four categories — Universities, Colleges, Technical institutions and Government institutions. As many as 3,500 HEIs had participated in the survey. Teams from University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) inspected the premises of 174 institutions of the 3,500. Time was given till July 31 to apply. However, University of Hyderabad, English and Foreign Languages University, Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Osmania University did not  even participate.

HEIs from Tamil Nadu fared the best in the survey with 12 HEIs figuring among the top 25. Interesting, none were in the Universities category, which was dominated by private varsities. In Universities category OP Jindal Global University-Sonepat topped followed by Manipal University-Jaipur, Chitkara University-Solan, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research and Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra.
