Telangana finance minister Etela Rajender hoists national flag upside down

In a major goof up, finance minister Etela Rajender unfurled the national flag upside down at an event organised in Jammikunta town on Friday.

KARIMNAGAR : In a major goof up, finance minister Etela Rajender unfurled the national flag upside down at an event organised in Jammikunta town on Friday. For the last one month, Jammikunta police has been singing of ‘Jana gana mana’, the national anthem, as a daily ritual and people are participating at 16 places in the town at 8 am and singing the national anthem. The event got popularised in Jammikunta town and got nationwide recognition.

To mark the completion of one month of the initiative, a 5K run was organised in the town. Finance minister and Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy attended the event in which nearly 5,000 people participated, Jammikunta CI P Prasanth Reddy said. To celebrate the programme at Gandhi Chowk in the town, police arranged a flag hoisting programme. While hoisting the tricolor, the minister, as per the suggestion of his gunman, pulled the first thread instead of the second, sources said. After hoisting the flag, minister and other representatives were shocked seeing that the flag was unfurled upside down. Immediately, the flag was pulled down and hoisted properly.

Min appreciates police department
Speaking on the occasion, Rajender appreciated the police department’s initiation to instill patriotism among people. Jammikunta town got the national level recognition and children participated in the programme.  Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy said that he would initiate to the same in other towns under jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate.  Drawing inspiration from Jammikunta police, Veenavanka and Illandakunta police came forward to conduct national anthem singing programme daily in  respective mandals.
