HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is said to be of the view that the proposed Federal Front to be formed by him would take a final shape only after October, by when various political parties are expected to decide their course for the next Lok Sabha polls.

Hence, the TRS, which earlier thought of inviting heads of its allies at a national level to the party plenary meeting to be held on April 27 to mark the anniversary of party foundation day, has now postponed its move.

The party has decided to organise a massive public meeting either in October or November in Hyderabad to formally start the campaign for the coming Assembly polls.

“We will mobilise beneficiaries of various welfare schemes to the proposed public meeting. Our party’s roadmap to bring in a qualitative change in national politics will be unveiled during the meeting,” State government chief whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said.

According to sources, the proposed meeting will be used to endorse Chief Minister and TRS supremo Rao’s decision to play a key role in national politics.

The TRS leader disclosed that the party’s annual plenary meeting will be held at Kompally on the outskirts of Hyderabad on April 27. About 15,000 delegates will take part in the programme, whose aim is to prepare the party cadres for next Assembly polls.

KTR to be given bigger responsibilities

Further, ruling party circles are eager to see more responsibilities of the party to be delegated to IT minister KT Rama Rao during the plenary meeting. KTR is likely to be elevated in the party organisational ladder to formally look after the party state affairs as his father and KCR has begun concentrating on national politics.

Already, the young minister is at the helm in the party. He started addressing public meetings in various districts to publicise the state government schemes in the run-up to the ensuing Panchayat polls.

As KTR already emerged as the undisputed political heir to Chief Minister Rao in the State government, the party leaders are of the view that the young leader would be made as working president of the party to fully take care of the party activities in the coming days, during the party plenary meeting.

‘We will make all efforts to defeat BJP in coming polls’

A day after their meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, CPM politburo member BV Raghavulu on Sunday dropped indications that his party might side with the TRS to stitch in an alternative political formation at the national level.

Providing scope to this argument, Raghavulu said, “CPM will not have any understanding with Congress Party. Likewise, we will make all efforts to defeat BJP in the coming general elections.”

While interacting with editors of various newspapers, the Marxist party leader acknowledged that they had discussed the proposed Third Front with KCR during their Saturdays’ meeting with him.

“We have not discussed anything about the current political developments in the State. But, the issue of forming a Federal Front at national level figured in the meeting. We told the CM that we would think about the proposed Front once the objective behind forming the Front was disclosed to us,” Raghavulu said.

  • Public meeting likely to be held near Outer Ring Road.
  • Leaders to organise cycle,  bus yatras and padayatras from all districts as a precursor to the meeting.
