Baba Ramdev calls for nationwide stir to set up turmeric board

Speaking about the setting up of Turmeric Board, Ramdev said that the government should see to it that the production of turmeric is increased, and at the same time, imports should be banned.

NIZAMABAD: Yoga guru and co-founder of Patanjali group Baba Ramdev has asked all political and non-political organisations to start a nationwide agitation for setting up of Turmeric Board. He said now was the right time to force the government to take a decision on the creation of turmeric board. “The government and political parties will take a decision on political issues only before the elections,’’ he commented.

The Yoga Guru arrived in Nizamabad on Monday to participate in a three-day yoga camp. He interacted with minister T Harish Rao and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Tuesday.Speaking about the setting up of Turmeric Board, Ramdev said that the government should see to it that the production of turmeric is increased, and at the same time, imports should be banned. He asked the TRS MP to start a nationwide agitation, and assured of his full support in the agitation.

Responding to a question on the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s proposed Federal Front, the Yoga Guru evaded a direct reply, but said that whoever does good work with regard to the development of farmers’ welfare will get the people’s mandate in their favour. He also said that if the State government provides basic needs including land, power and water, the Patanjali group was ready to set up the turmeric processing centre in Nizamabad.

Appreciating the policies of the State government, Ramdev reminisced his participation in Telanagana movement and said that the same leadership was taking the State ahead on the road to development. He also advised the State government to set up food processing units that would help the farmers in the future.
He expressed confidence by next year Patanjali group would overcome all its competitors in business and become most trusted organisation.
