Bid to murder ex-IAS officer, five arrested in Telangana

HYDERABAD: A former government servant and his sister along with three others including two hired assailants have been arrested for hatching a plan to kill their paternal uncle, P Dayachari, a former IAS officer.  The accused P Karunakar and P Manjula, who had a property dispute with their uncle, wanted to eliminate him, Jubilee Hills police said.

On April 5, when Dayachari, living was going on his morning walk near his house at Prashasan Nagar,  two persons attacked him with a wooden wicket causing him a severe bleeding injury on his head and fled from the spot.  

The Jubilee Hills police registered a case under Sections 307, 120 (B) r/w 34 of IPC following a complaint by Dayachari.West Zone DCP AR Srinivas on Tuesday said based on the CCTV footage, the police apprehended I Ashok (28), M Sagar (33)  B Durga Naresh (34) of Vijayawada.

According to police,  Dayachari and his niece P Manjula (55) jointly purchased some properties at Guntur and Patancheru. The duo had some financial disputes over the property. As the dispute was not resolved, Manjula along with her  brother P Karunakar (59), a retired government servant, hatched a plan to eliminate Dayachari,  the DCP said.

“They discussed the plan with their business partner Venkateswar Rao, who introduced the siblings to Naresh of Vijayawada. They gave `15,000 as advance to execute the plan.  On April 4, the assailants Ashok, Sagar, and Ayyappa and Rajesh went to Prashasan Nagar to conduct a recce.
They purchased a cricket wicket from a shop at Kondapur and attacked Dayachari the next day,” the DCP said.
