HYDERABAD: A two-and-half-year-old girl and her mother were killed in a road accident when a speeding lorry rammed the moped they were travelling on from the rear at Malkajgiri on Friday.
Polipetti Pranitha (27) along with her daughter Manasa and husband P Prakash of East Anand Bagh was heading to Tarnaka from Moulali on a moped. Prakash was riding the moped. When the moped reached ZTS X roads in Malakjgiri, a speeding lorry hit the vehicle from the rear.
Manasa and Pranitha flung into the air and fell at distance resulting in severe head injuries to the mother-son duo.“Manasa died on the spot while Pranitha was rushed to Gandhi Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed. Based on Prakash’s complaint, a case has been registered against lorry driver Pitta Sridhar under section 337 and 304 A of IPC. Search is on for him,” said Malkajgiri sub-inspector Sanjeeva Reddy.
