HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court on Monday issued notice to B Teja Raju, son of B Ramalinga Raju, former chairman of the erstwhile Satyam Computers company, on a petition relating to attachment of a house property at Kompally on the city’s outskirts by the Enforcement Directorate.

The bench of acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with an appeal filed by R Gajapathi Kumar Raju, tenant of the subject property, complaining that the ED had sealed their villa when they were out of town during Sankranti. Senior counsel S Niranjan Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, told the court that the appellant would pay the rental amount to the ED instead of Teja Raju who was the owner of the property if the seal was removed. Pointing out that the ED had not even permitted them to take their household articles.

ED counsel PSP Suresh Kumar said that villa was attached in the Satyam scam case on January 17 this year. The appellant would be allowed into the premises if he had a registered rental agreement. If registered, the rental amount would be deposited in a special account. The law would not permit them to have a new rental agreement. If an application was made before the ED, then permission would be given to them to take their household articles. The bench said it would hear the arguments of Teja Raju and, issuing notice to him, adjourned the hearing by two weeks.
