‘Will not spare politicos participating in cockfights’

HYDERABAD:Expressing displeasure at participation of public representatives in cock-fights held illegally during Sankranthi in spite of court orders, a division bench of Hyderabad HC on Tuesday said it would not spare them and directed AP to place all details regarding their positions and addresses before the court by next date of hearing.In another case, the bench issued notices to the TDP MLAs A Satya Prasad, A Satish Prabhakar and former MLAs Devineni Mallikarjuna Rao and M Venkata Subbaiah for allegedly organizing cock-fights in Guntur district in spite of the court orders. The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with a PIL case filed by K Ramachandra Raju.

Hand over docus to Essel-Zee: Bankers, Agri Gold told

HYDERABAD:A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the bankers and Agri Gold management to provide all documents of Agri Gold properties to the Subhash Chandra foundation of Eseel-Zee group which was permitted to do due diligence exercise to take over the scam-hit Agri Gold company.The bench of Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice S V Bhatt was dealing with batch petitions filed by the Telangana Agri Gold customers and agents welfare association and others seeking CBI probe into Agri Gold scam and return of the depositors’ monies.  After hearing both sides, the bench directed the company management to handover all the property documents to the group.

Encroachment of 2,000-acre govt land: Probe ordered

HYDERABAD:A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the Mancherial district collector to inquire into the alleged encroachment of about 2,000 acres of government land and to submit a comprehensive report to the court within two weeks.The bench of acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi passed the order on a PIL filed by Induri Ram Mohan Rao of Gollapally village in Nennel mandal of the district seeking a direction to the Telangana government to protect the 2,000 acres of government land scattered in 11 villages in the mandal.The bench said that there was a need to forthwith stop such activities.

HC poser to TS govt on Bhojagutta land allotments

HYDERABAD:A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday directed the Telangana government to explain its stand on the recommendations made by the Hyderabad district collector for cancellation of the allotments of prime lands at Bhojagutta (Asifnagar area) in Mehdipatnam area of the city.The bench, comprising acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi, was dealing with a petition filed by M Srinivas of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the district collector had conducted an inquiry and requested the government to cancel the allotment made in favour of Mustafa Hills Housing Society as the concession from government was obtained on basis of forged documents.

Hotels fleecing pilgrims: TTD report sought

HYDERABAD:A division bench of High Court on Tuesday called for a comprehensive report from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on the efficacy of mechanism evolved for receiving complaints and acting upon them, particularly about pilgrims’ complaints of exorbitant prices at hotels on Tirumala.
The bench of acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with a PIL filed by Parihara Seva Samithi, seeking a direction to TTD authorities to take steps to curb illegal activities of hoteliers. Alleging that hotels were charging exorbitant prices for food items than those fixed by TTD, the petitioner sought action against the TTD officials who were indulging in irregularities particularly in respect of tenders relating to shops.

Nagam’s PIL on PRLIS cost overrun to be taken next week

HYDERABAD:A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday said that it would take up final hearing either next week or after that week on the PIL filed by Nagam Janardhan Reddy, former minister and BJP leader, seeking a CBI probe into the alleged fraud in manipulating the estimates of electro-mechanical equipment for the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. As there was no scope for his petition to come up hearing on Tuesday, Nagam, appearing as party-in-person, made a mention before the bench comprising acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi with a plea for hearing the case urgently as crores of rupees of public money was misused.
