HYDERABAD: IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan has said that X, the research and development arm of Alphabet Inc that owns Google, which is working on the development of breakthrough technologies including beaming of high-speed line-of-sight wireless internet, might start a pilot project in Telangana by connecting some of the villages with the technology.
It may be mentioned here that state government embarked on the ambitious project of ‘T-Fiber Grid’ of laying fibre optic cables along with drinking water pipelines, being laid across the state as part of Mission Bhagiratha. However, in some parts of the state where the pipelines were laid before the T-Fiber project started, some villages could not be connected with optic fibre.
Ranjan said that IT Minister, KT Rama Rao had fruitful discussions with Tom Moore of Google X on connecting villages that have been left out of the T-Fiber grid using the wireless internet beaming technology.
