HYDERABAD: Despite former minister DK Aruna’s group in the Congress expressing their views against the proposed induction of senior politico Nagam Janardhan Reddy, another senior leader belonging to the same erstwhile united Mahbubnagar district, G Chinna Reddy, on Friday said he was welcoming the reports that Janardhan Reddy was joining the party.

Making an indirect appeal to Congress MLC K Damodar Reddy, who is a close aide of DK Aruna and had opposed Janardhan Reddy’s inclusion on Thursday, said, “Nagam Janardhan Reddy is a strong leader not only in the Mahbubnagar district but also in the entire State. Entry of such leaders into the Congress will further strengthen the party.”

Chinna Reddy, who switched to Congress from TDP campcalled upon the yellow party leaders to join the Congress in more numbers. “TDP is no longer a strong political force in the State. Hence, I request all the TDP leaders to join the Congress in order to defeat the ruling TRS in the upcoming polls,” he said. Meanwhile, objecting to the comments made by Chinna Reddy, Damodar Reddy said that if Nagam Janardhan Reddy was inducted into the party, local Congress cadres will not cooperate with him, as he had allegedly harassed them when he was a minister.
