KARIMNAGAR:  A day after the State Human Rights Commission served notices to the district collector and Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar Commissioner to take steps to resolve the issues of the residents of Katta Rampur locality ( 27th division) who have been urging the corporation for removal of cell tower that has been reportedly emitting radiations affecting their health, child welfare Authorities on Friday swung into action.

Curiously, the officials instead of shifting the cell tower are planning to shift the Anganwadi centre, a move that is being opposed by locals. The cell tower is located near an Anganwadi centre and parents have stopped sending their children to the centre fearing that the radiation from the tower might affect their health.  Authorities concerned have initiated steps to shift the Anganwadi centre.

The district welfare officer M Sharada told Express that to avoid further problems, the authorities have asked the Anganwadi supervisor to shift the Centre immediately.“We expected that the cell tower will be removed to safeguard the health of children but the authorities are planning to shift the anganwadi centre,’’ said a local.  The Anganwadi centre has been there since the last 13 years.
