HYDERABAD: The selfie craze has caused several troubles across the world, from intrusion of privacy to accidental deaths. But probably for the first time in the State, it has become the reason for a marriage to be stalled. Hours before tying the knot, a happy couple who dreamt of a life together, till that point, split up. They ended up filing police cases against each other.

Adepu Anil Kumar was to tie the knot with Ashwini when he received a call from one Prashanth, who claimed to be a former colleague of the bride. He asked Anil to check his WhatsApp and hung up on him. Prashanth had sent a selfie he had taken with Ashwini on WhatsApp. The picture was taken inside a supermarket where both of them worked.

Prashanth further claimed that he was in love with the girl and wanted to marry her. Infuriated, and suspecting Ashwini was already in a relationship, Anil called off the wedding. He then filed a cheating case against Ashwini with Elkathurthy police station. Meanwhile, Ashwini filed a case against Prashanth claiming the picture was taken and sent only to stall her wedding. She also slapped a case on Anil for leaving her in a lurch.
