CPI-ML leader ‘missing’, wife goes to court

 A habeas corpus petition was filed in the High Court on Wednesday with a plea for production of the detenu A Narayana Swamy alias Madhu, regional secretary of CPI-ML.

HYDERABAD:  A habeas corpus petition was filed in the High Court on Wednesday with a plea for production of the detenu A Narayana Swamy alias Madhu, regional secretary of CPI-ML (New Democracy), in the court. When the petition, filed by Madhu’s wife Padma, came up for an urgent hearing, a division bench comprising justices C V Nagarjuna Reddy and G Shyam Prasad, directed the police concerned to submit details on the issue, and adjourned the hearing to Monday.

Petitioner’s counsel V Raghunath told the court that the petitioner’s husband, who was suffering from ill health, went for health checkup in the morning (July 4). While he was going in an autorickshaw from Kothapet to Habsiguda, some policemen in plain clothes stopped the auto near the Kothapet fruit market and forcibly took him into custody.

The police refused to disclose the custody and location of the detenu, he added and urged the court to direct the police to immediately produce him in the court. Taking these submissions into consideration, the bench adjourned the hearing to Monday to enable the police to submit the details.
