HYDERABAD: The Congress, which is of the view that Assembly elections in the state might be advanced, has decided to turn up the political heat by organising various programmes for a period of 100 days from the first week of August. Holding padayatras, organising public meetings, and staging dharnas on people’s issues are some of the programmes being planned by the TPCC leadership.

During an informal chat with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the party would launch a 100-day campaign from August to activate its cadres for the ensuing polls.

“We will soon announce who will undertake padayatras. Any activity that could benefit the Congress at grassroots level would be allowed by the leaders across the state,” Uttam announced. He informed that the schedule of the next phase of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra was also being finalised.

Rahul to be invited to Nerella public meeting

According to the TPCC chief, Telangana Congress had decided to hold a public meeting called “Dalithula Aatma Gourava Sabha” at Sircilla, represented by IT minister KT Rama Rao. “The meeting is being proposed to highlight the police atrocities committed against Nerella Dalits exactly one year ago. We will invite AICC president Rahul Gandhi to the meeting,” Uttam said.

“Police brutally attacked Dalit youths in Nerella for questioning illegal sand mining activities in their area. It’s highly shameful that the TRS government did not take any action even one year after the incident,” he said.
