Finish Mission Bhagiratha work in 60-80 days: CM K Chandrasekhar Rao

KCR asks officials to overcome teething problems, increases no. of chief engineers

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed officials that all work related to Mission Bhagiratha should be completed in the next 60 to 80 days.  “We may encounter some teething troubles wherever Mission Bhagiratha work has been completed. Overcome them, resolve the issues and expedite the work,” the CM told the officials at a review of the project at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday.

The CM noted that a majority of work of has already been completed. “The intra-village network and other minor work are left. The deadline should be August 14 midnight for providing bulk water supply to all the villages. The intra-village pipeline work too should go simultaneously,” the CM said.

KCR said that some leakages of pipelines might occur in the project which involves 1.5 lakh km of pipeline network and 1,400 motors. “The leakages at a few places are natural. We have to overcome these troubles. If any contracting agency is showing negligent attitude, take action against them,” the CM said.

‘Revamp RWS&S’

The CM decided to revamp the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation department to expedite Mission Bhagiratha work. He directed officials to appoint present RWS&S engineer-in-chief  Surender Reddy as Mission Bhagiratha advisor. The present chief engineer would be appointed as engineer-in-chief. The number of chief engineers would be increased from four to nine, Rao announced.

The CM directed the officials to clear contractors’ bills immediately. Rao directed the officials to review the work daily.  “Take all steps to see that there are no low-voltage problems for Mission Bhagiratha,” Rao told the officials.
