HYDERABAD: Making no secret of its unhappiness with the Centre, the TRS has said that the Narendra Modi government has not lived up to people’s expectations in the past four years. Taking part in the debate on the no-trust motion against the NDA government in the Lok Sabha on Friday, TRS member B Vinod Kumar went ballistic at Modi’s as well Chandrababu Naidu’s government in Andhra Pradesh over issues relating to Telangana.

“I can say that people’s expectations of this government have not been fulfilled. Telangana people were annoyed during the first meeting of Modi’s Cabinet, which promulgated an ordinance snatching away seven mandals from Khammam district of the State only to merge them with AP. This was done against the spirit of the Constitution,” he said.

Vinod demanded a new bill to amend the AP Reorganisation Act be introduced in the House and the mandals be merged back with TS.

“The Sileru project located in these seven mandals was snatched away from TS which is facing shortage of power. Naidu took a decision against Section 92 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014,  and stopped supplying power to TS. Despite the hurdles on electricity front, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao purchased power from other States and gradually made the fledgling State power-surplus,’’he said.

“Today, 24X7 power is being supplied to farmers free of cost as nowhere else in the country. This is the achievement of our CM,” he said. “The UPA government had failed to allocate funds for irrigation projects on the Godavari or Krishna in Telangana. The Congress is now making a hue and cry and moving courts in a bid to stall the Kaleshwaram project,” he said.
