HYDERABAD: A railways employee, who allegedly stole Rs 7.65 lakh cash from his friend’s house, was arrested by police on Sunday.  Mohammed Moiz Ahmed, a resident of Yousufguda, has been working as a technician with South Central Railways. Police say that the accused took advantage of his friend’s confidence in him and committed the offence.

Recently, his school friend Sphoorthy who finished her MS in the US came to the city. Moiz along with another friend Mounika went to Sphoorthy’s house  in Hasthinapuram to meet her when the latter’s parents were not at home. When Mounika and Sphoorthy went out to get tablets, Moiz, who was alone at the house, allegedly stole the cash.

Meerpet detective inspector M Madhusudhan said Sphoorthy’s father Singidi Narender Reddy noticed that the cash was missing and enquired with his daughter. That is when they realised that Moiz was alone in the house. Based on Reddy’s complaint, Moiz was traced at his home and nabbed.
