HYDERABAD: BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao on Thursday exuded confidence that soon after his party national president Amit Shah’s visit to Telangana on June 22, the situation in Telangana will be in favour of the saffron party. He also predicted that Chandrababu Naidu would not retain his Chief Minister post after the 2019 polls in Andhra Pradesh as TDP was bound to be defeated.

Corruption, family rule and nepotism will be the main agenda of the BJP to take on the ruling parties in the two Telugu-speaking states in the 2019 polls, he announced.
Ahead of Shah’s proposed visit, the saffron party leadership has begun raising the tempo of verbal attack against the TRS in Telangana as well as TDP in AP, gradually. Muralidhar Rao, who hails from Telangana, on Thursday said it would be a straight fight between TRS and BJP in Telangana in the 2019 polls.
“Congress is no longer a strong political force in the state. It has no acceptable leader for all. Hence, BJP is the only party which can challenge the TRS in the 2019 polls. We are formulating strategies to gain power in the state,” he said, while interacting with reporters here on Thursday.

The BJP national general secretary said there was deep-seated resentment among people against the TRS government, “which had failed to implement its promises made to various sections of people during the 2014 polls.”

“As people are vexed with the harsh and undemocratic rule of the TRS, our main agenda is to expose the unfulfilled promises of the ruling party. During his proposed visit to the state, Shah will give a clear direction to the party cadres on how to face the 2019 polls. His tour programme is being planned to assess the ground level situation and prepare the grassroots level workers for the 2019 electoral battle.

After Shah’s visit, the situation in the state will gradually change in favour the BJP by the 2019 polls,” he said. He also made it clear that there would not be any understanding between the BJP and the TRS in the state.
Shifting his focus to AP, Muralidhar Rao said the BJP would set the “ongoing corruption” in TDP government as the main agenda in the 2019 polls in that state. “By appointing an experienced politico as the head of the BJP AP unit, our national president has clearly sent signals that our party is very much in the foray for the 2019 polls. I am sure Chandrababu Naidu will not become the CM again as people of AP are exasperated by his misrule,” he commented.
