KHAMMAM: Two young entrepreneurs from Khammam district — K Rami Reddy and P Rama Rao — are set to interact with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon. They have set up successful business units with the help of Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme. (PMEGP).
Ramireddy set up a vermiculture compost unit at Mutthagudem under Khammam rural mandal and started supplying compost to the state government and farmers.

He used to sell 40 kilo vermi-compost bags at Rs 300 each and he is providing employment to 15 youths in his firm. Apart from it, Ramireddy is also producing paddy without using chemical fertilizers and he is making bio-pesticides by using cow urine and neem powder. The rice, which is sold at `90 per kilo, has a lot of demand.

The second youth, Rama Rao, set up a clay brick industry at Kachirajugudem near Khammam. Around 20 persons are being employed in his unit.

PMEGP was introduced to promote micro entrepreneurs in rural as well as in urban areas. The scheme is being administered by the Ministry of MSME (micro, small  and medium enterprises) through khadi and village industries (KVIC). At the state level, Telangana State Khadi and Village Industries Board, Khadi and Village Industries Commission and District Industrial Centre are implementing it.

A circular came from deputy chief executive officer of PMEGP to the regional officer of TSKVIB in Khammam to select two entrepreneurs from the scheme to interact with Modi. The date and venue of the interaction are not mentioned.
