27-year-old man held for sexually assaulting, choking minor to death
ADILABAD: In a ghastly incident, a 27-year-old man was arrested for killing a 10-year-old girl after allegedly sexually assaulting her on the outskirts of Kuchanpalli village of Soan mandal in the district.
The body of the victim was found on the banks of river Godavari. The girl was reportedly abducted by the accused when she was playing near her house on Saturday afternoon. The accused has been identified as T Praveen.
According to CI C Ramesh Babu, the accused took away the girl forcefully in his two-wheeler, while she was playing in front of her house. The villagers noticed Praveen taking the girl away and alerted the police. The parents of the minor girl after searching for her in the village lodged a complaint with the police.
After interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his crime and even took the police to the place where he sexually assaulted the girl and strangulated her. The agitated villagers gathered in front of the police station and demanded the police to handover the accused to them. They even staged a rasta roko on NH 44. Superintendent of Police C Shasidhar Raju visited the spot and assured the villagers that he would take serious action against the accused. A case has been registered.
