Jana Chaithanya Yatra: State BJP unit to hit the roads from June 23

The party leadership has planned to organise 20 public meetings during the Yatra in various districts.

HYDERABAD:  With the Centre considering the proposal to hold simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, BJP State unit has decided to mingle with people extensively by launching its Jana Chaithanya Yatra on June 23 from Yadadri. The first phase of Yatra will continue till July 6, covering at least 25 Assembly segments.

The party leadership has planned to organise 20 public meetings during the Yatra in various districts. The Yatra will be taken up in four phases, touching all 119 Assembly segments. Various Union ministers and BJP national leaders will be taking part in it, during the four phases.

BJP national president Amit Shah, whose visit to the State has been postponed several times till now, is likely to come in the second week of July. For now, his visit to the State is tentatively scheduled to be held on July 12 or July 13. During his visit, Shah will review the party situation by holding meetings with booth level committees to State level leaders.

While interacting with media on Wednesday, party State unit chief K Laxman said the aim of their proposed Yatra is to publicise the Narendra Modi government welfare schemes and also to expose the unfulfilled promises of K Chandrasekhar Rao government in the State. “We are the only alternative to TRS in the State. Congress is not in a position to challenge the ruling establishment,” Laxman said.

Kishan Reddy acquitted
The Nampally fast track court gave its first judgment in BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy’s case by acquitting him and others in a case relating to staging a dharna. The case was closed by the court. In 2010, Reddy and others had staged a protest near the State BJP 0ffice demanding that the government reimburse fee of BC, SC and ST students. At that time, police detained Kishan Reddy and others and registered cases. Based on SC directions, a special fast track court was set up at Nampally court premises to deal with cases related MLAs and MPs.
