HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Public Service Commission has told the High Court that it has no objection in considering engineering diploma courses as equivalent to Intermediate as per GO No 112 issued in 2001.Taking this submission into consideration, the court has directed the authorities concerned to consider the eligible candidates who have completed diploma course in civil engineering for the post of forest beat officer.

Justice P Naveen Rao has passed this order on a petition filed by K Ganesh from Mahabubnagar challenging rejection of his application for the post last year on the ground that the said diploma was not equivalent to Intermediate. He completed the three-year diploma course in civil engineering.

On an earlier occasion, the court passed an interim order directing the authorities to permit the petitioner for written examination and to consider his case for selection process based on his performance or result in the written test, and that a post be kept vacant till further orders of the court. When the matter came up for hearing recently, the standing counsel for TSPSC submitted that the commission has no objection to considering the said diploma course as being equivalent to Intermediate as per GO No.112. Taking this into consideration, the judge directed the authorities to consider the eligible candidates who completed diploma course for the said posts.
