KARIMNAGAR: A day after quitting as Bharatiya Janata Party's district unit president, and even giving up primary membership, Kotha Srinivas Reddy has joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the presence of IT Minister K T Rama Rao in Hyderabad here on Wednesday.

After returning Karimnagar, Srinivas Reddy participated in various programmes of the TRS party along with former MLA Gangula Kamalakar.

The resignation of Srinivas Reddy, an aspirant for Husnabad ticket, and his defection to TRS has come as no surprise as there were rumours ahead of BJP's recent ‘Samara Bheri’ programme that he may quit the party, though he rejected the rumours at that time.

Srinivas Reddy was reportedly unhappy with the party's attitude towards him and was further angered when his name was not included in the list of 38 candidates released by the party ahead of December 7 Assembly elections.

In his resignation letter addressed to party's State president K Lakshman, Srinivas Reddy is said to have referred to party's decision to field another leader from the Husnabad constituency.

Srinivas Reddy's association with the saffron party dates back to his student days, when he was a member of ABVP.

Meanwhile, the party has already started the hunt for the right candidate for the post of district president and according to political observers senior leader and advocate Basa Satyanaryana is likely to be given the responsibility.
