Telangana: Transwoman refuses money, lover slits her throat

The police have recorded the statement of Radhika and launched a manhunt to nab Suresh, who is currently absconding.

MAHABUBABAD: A love story goes awry after a tribal transwoman was attacked by her partner in Mahabubabad town on Tuesday after she refused to give him money. The victim, who was identified as Banoth Radhika (25) of Kotha Thanda of Garla mandal of the district, is undergoing treatment at the local government hospital. Radhika’s grandmother B Janku lodged a complaint with police. 

Radhika fell in love with one D Suresh and has been living with him for the past one year. Initially, everything was fine between the couple and both the families also accepted their relationship. 

But trouble started after Suresh started harassing her for money. In fact, Radhika’s family had paid him Rs1 lakh earlier.  Encouraged by the response of Radhika’s family, he started exerting more pressure on her to get Rs 3 lakh additionally from her parents.

When Radhika refused Suresh and his family members started abusing her verbally and physically.  On Monday night when Suresh again started demanding money,  a fight broke out between the two and in a fit of rage Suresh slashed Radhika’s throat with a kitchen knife. Hearing her screams, neighbour rushed to her rescue and shifted her to government hospital.

The police have recorded the statement of Radhika and launched a manhunt to nab Suresh, who is currently absconding.
