India gets its first woman Naval captain at last
Aye Aye Madame

Look who is making waves in the Indian Navy. Lieutenant Commander Shweta Kapur is India’s first female Naval officer to be on board a ship in the high seas. It’s plain sailing for the Delhi girl in her mid-twenties as part of a four-member crew, as she speeds towards South Africa. The ship is on its way from Karwar, Karnataka to Cape Town. Fortunately Shweta hasn’t yet been asked to walk the plank—an ancient mutineers’ practice of making officers walk on a plank or board jutting out into the sea and are pushed off—as is customary for a rookie officer on a warship. But she manages to get off her ship and enter the ocean at times, to go scuba diving and exploring the beauty of marine life.
