Maiden chargesheet for Delhi's Dy CM Sisodia in tricolour case

NEW DELHI:  For the first time, Delhi’s deputy chief minister will be charge-sheeted by city police for disrespecting the tricolour in 2013.

According to Delhi Police sources, the charges against Manish Sisodia are based on a complaint and photographs on Facebook uploaded by a Lucknow resident. Sisodia, who was not the deputy CM at that time, allegedly wrapped the national flag on the dead body of AAP worker Santosh Koli who died in a road accident in Ghaziabad.

Sources confirmed that the police have contacted a private news channel for the original video footage. “We have enough evidence and in couple of days we will be filing the charge sheet,” said a police official. He said the case is supported by scientific and technical proof.

DCP North East didn’t respond to queries. According to the FIR, Sisodia was booked by the Uttar Pradesh police for violation of the National Flag Act, 1971, on August 20, 2013.

Pratap Chandra from Lucknow registered the complaint on August 13 at Ashiana police station in the city. The case was later transferred to the Seemapuri station here. The 28-year-old Koli was the AAP candidate for Seemapuri in the 2014 Delhi Assembly polls.
