HYDERABAD: It took two-and-half years for Micromax to start their mobile manufacturing unit in Uttarakhand. But, they had a different experience with Telangana. Micromax got all the required permissions for setting up their manufacturing unit in 15 days and started production in Hyderabad in six months. Micromax sent a message to this effect to IT minister K T Rama Rao recently.
During a review meeting held by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on IT, pharma, industries sectors, Rama Rao showed the Micromax message to the chief minister. The Micromax also informed Rama Rao that they did not spend a single rupee for getting the permissions thanks to the simple and transparent new industrial policy of the state government. During the meeting, the chief minister said that the world had recognised that Telangana, especially Hyderabad, as the best investment destination. He said several pharma companies too are evincing keen interest to start their operations here.
Directing the officials to set up common treatment plants and residential areas in the proposed Pharma City, KCR wanted the officials to study the treatment plants in other countries. “Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Telangana had created an investment-friendly atmosphere,” KCR said.
He said Bengaluru and Hyderabad were recognised as most preferred destinations for IT industries. Several IT companies were moving out of Chennai after the recent cyclonic floods there. “In the wake of this, we have to keep the goodwill of Hyderabad and prepare action plan to attract IT investments to Hyderabad,” the CM suggested the officials.
STATE’S IT POLICY to come up ON APRIL 4
Telangana government’s new IT Policy would be launched on April 4. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Infosys chairman NR Narayana Murthy will release the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) policy. This was announced by IT minister K T Rama Rao on his twitter account on Thursday. The previous IT policy prepared in the combined AP lapsed in 2015 and the state government continued the same till date. The first IT policy of Telangana will have several sops to IT companies. The state government has an ambition to beat Bengaluru in IT sector.
