VIJAYAWADA : Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan was at Tirupati and Kakinada, slamming the Centre for denying Special Category Status (SCS) and ridiculing MPs for forgetting their responsibility of pressuring the Centre. Nobody doubts that he is a political force to reckon with.
But which side is he on or is he on his own? Will he come into the midst of the people like any other politician and continue to fight? The questions remain, given the whimsical nature of the actor.
Tollywood sources said Kalyan has two movies lined up. “He will have to complete them as he has committed to them already. Any plunge into politics would be later,” a Tollywood source said.
Kalyan at Tirupati vowed not to rest until he took the war into the enemy camp. He was also not kind to Chandrababu Naidu. At Kakinada, Kalyan kept demanding SCS even after the Centre made it clear that there could only be a package whose benefits would be as good. His description of special package as stinking laddus also evoked sharp reaction. He raised hopes in Tirupati but could not keep them afloat at Kakinada as he couldn’t spell out his action plan.
A disappointed fan said, “I expected a clear plan of action. What all he spoke was just hot air.” Few days later, an SMS was circulated that Kalyan is keen on writing his second book on his political agenda.
If one looked at the two public meetings in the back drop of the TDP continuous efforts to plead with the centre for SCS, it appeared Kalyan was only trying to bring pressure on the centre to help Naidu get either the status if that was not possible a very liberal package. The way Kalyan went about attacking the BJP, it appeared he was doing what Naidu could not and if Kalyan’s show was “sponsored” by the TDP as was alleged by the
YSRC, then Naidu’s gamble has paid off. But his relations with the BJP seem to have crossed the point of no return.
