NEW DELHI:n the wake of the dengue and Chikungunya outbreak here, civic bodies have made a united pitch to increase fines on residents who allow unhygienic conditions in their homes and localities.
The demand to increase the fine was raised in a meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) with Delhi government. The civic bodies have conducted over 12,000 trials in Delhi, but the maximum a person can be fined only Rs 500. Now, a minimum fine of Rs 5,000 and a maximum of Rs 25,000 has been mooted. NDMC Chief Medical Officer R N Singh said: “The criteria should be changed.”
