NEW DELHI: With the mission for inclusive education and a helping hand to the youth of the SC category, the AAP government in Delhi will collaborate with coaching centres—especially those in the city’s coaching hub such as Mukherjee Nagar, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar and South Extension.

The government wants to tie up with institutions such as Vajiram, Chanakya, Akash, Paramount and Sanskriti as they are known for coaching students of UPSC, SSC, IIT-JEE, CAT, AIPMT and other competitive exams where thousands of students dream to take admission.

“We want students to study in a good institutes such as Paramount, Chanakya, Akash and Vajiram. We will issue the expression of interest within 15 days in which we believe that these centres will participate in our scheme,” said Rajendra Pal Gautam, Delhi’s Minister for Social Welfare.

Earlier this week, the AAP government said it will pay for SC students’ coaching. The first phase of the rollout includes many private coaching centres in Delhi.

“We want the youth from the category to have more inclusive growth. A benefit scheme on similar lines is being thought for other deprived communities. Our message to the youth is that if you have skills, the Delhi government will invest fully in your talent for the development of the nation. Financial consttraint should not be a factor to worry about,” Gautam said.

In the first phase, 100 students will benefit.

“Right now the limit is upto Rs 40,000 aid for each student, but this can be changed as some coaching centres can be costly,” Gautam added.

According to officials the existing scheme of the Central government to provide skill training to specific groups did not yield the desired results, as there was no inclusion of the students from the category among the general candidates. Hence the atmosphere of competiveness and collective learning was absent now the change is that the students will be part of the main stream learning.

SC students in Delhi who have passed Class X and XI who fulfill the eligibility criteria set by a coaching centre will get a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500 along with the institute’s fees.
