CHANDIGARH: Jat agitators have threatened to seal borders Delhi if their demands are not met with by Haryana government.
Talking to The Sunday Standard, Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, president Yashpal Malik said, “We would observe February 19 as balidan divas in memory of Jat youth killed during agitation in Hisar district
in 2010.”

This time Jats who are on indefinite dharnas across 19 districts in Haryana demanding reservation and roll back of cases against those arrested during the quota stir last year are vigilant that no untoward incident takes place. They are keeping a hawk’s eye on the state machinery and the government is also watching them.
Malik said, “Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar had said that cases pertaining to murder and attempt to murder registered during last year’s stir would not be withdrawn. So there is no scope of talks. We will start protest on roads leading to Delhi and cut off vegetables and milk supplies.”

Meanwhile, in Rohtak, Jind, Sonepat, Panipat, Bhiwani, Jhaggar, Sirsa, Hisar, Ambala, Kurukshetra and other places mostly women and old men are taking part in the agitation. The youth have been told to stay away from protests and if they want to participate, they will have to come at designated dharna spots.
Teams of around 200 volunteers have also been formed to manage crowd at protest sites. Malik added that they have hired cameramen to record the dharna and make sure that everything is smooth.
Aloo-puri and halwa is served as lunch and hooka is also provided. Local singers also keep the protesters engaged with reservation songs.
