NEW DELHI: Rising saffron wave and its own dismal performance in Punjab and Goa elections have left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) puzzled. Party insiders said that senior leadership is forced to change strategy for upcoming MCD polls to counter BJP’s winning spree.

Sources within AAP said, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will soon hold a core committee meeting to discuss changes in strategy. “Given the BJP sweep and the current situation, our senior leadership is forced to redraw the strategy,” said an AAP insider.

Sources added that AAP is leaving no stone unturned to secure victory for the municipal polls as the results will reflect the party’s prospects of winning Delhi assembly polls scheduled for 2020.

“The recent results have already shown that the party is missing somewhere in gauging the public mood. We need to make up. It is crucial to show our presence in Delhi where we won with record margins in 2015,” said another party insider.

AAP has begun candidates' review after Punjab poll loss. Sources said that AAP volunteers have been asked to focus on areas dominated by Poorvanchalis. As per sources, both BJP and AAP are planning to rope in celebrities to campaign for them in Delhi, especially in slum and unauthorised colonies.
