NEW DELHI: Six months after the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System’s (DIMTS) contract to manage the New Delhi Municipal Council parking lots was cancelled following discrepancies in its working, the civic body has now requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the matter. The NDMC enforcement department submitted the documents related to internal enquiry conducted by the civic body last year to CBI, on Tuesday.

A joint venture of Delhi government and a private firm, the DIMTS had got the contract to operate 94 parking lots of the NDMC in 2013.

Unhappy over the working the civic body has blacklisted the company and has been operating the parking themselves since October 2016. The inquiry had pointed out that the company incurred a loss of `50 crore to the civic body in three years.

“DIMTS used to operate parking lots through small-level contractors. Our multi-level parking spaces are lying empty because of the connivance between the DIMTS officials and contractors” said a high-ranking officer in NDMC enforcement department, requesting anonymity.

The report said the firm used to issue 3,000 monthly parking passes to vehicles generating revenue of `60 lakh per month, apart from daily tickets and passes. The NDMC has now floated tenders to allot the lots to parking operators. Last date to submit tenders is April 3.
