New Delhi: With only one month left for International Yoga Day, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has geared up to organise a mega event at Connaught Place.
Although the national event will be held in Lucknow on June 21, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part, the NDMC is leaving no stone unturned to host a grand show here.
Smart City director Neeraj Bharti, who is dealing with Yoga Day preparations, said, “To create awareness about the advantages of yoga, kiosks will be set up in Connaught Place and nearby areas. A two-hour fusion and spiritual music programme will be held at Central Park on June 18.”
The civic body also has plans to rope in Bollywood singer Kailash Kher for a Sufi music fusion night at Central Park on June 19.
Kher was a part of BJP’s poll campaign, and the reason behind choosing him is his style of singing that has caught the fancy of chairman Naresh Kumar.
Health talks, yoga classes and spiritual lessons will be conducted at Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park and Talkatora Garden every Saturday and Sunday till June 21.
Members of Patanjali Yogapeeth, Morarji Desai Foundation, Art of Living Yoga, Gayatri Parivar Foundation and NDMC education department will take part in the event.
