NEW DELHI: To inspire students to perform well and make them feel proud to be its part, Hansraj College of Delhi University has dedicated a wall of its building to notable alumni of the college. The red-bricked wall named ‘Hum Aur Hamara Hansraj’ displays photographs of 11 most famous alumni.

The 40-ft high wall near the entrance of the college has pictures of famous personalities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ranvijay Singh, Union Minister of Home affairs Kiren Rijiju, Industrialist Naveen Jindal, Tibet Prime Minister Lobsay Sangay, and Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam.

“The brainchild behind this idea is an alumnus, who motivated me to come up with something like this. This has made college and students proud. Now, other colleges are also planning to create similar wall on their campus,” said, Rama Sharma, Principal, Hansraj College.  College alumnus Kunal Garg, 22, has sponsored the designing of wall.

“It will motivate students to work hard and become famous like other alumni. To most students, Hansraj means Shah Rukh Khan’s college. But we also wanted them to know other alumni who have made the country proud,” Garg said. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which assesses and accredits higher education Institutions in India, has appreciated the college for this wall and has awarded the college A plus grade.
