NEW DELHI: Due to the ongoing tussle between IAS officiers and elected representatives in the national capital, a policy involving the future of children is still in the pipeline. In order to provide a helping hand to the weak students, the Delhi government's social welfare department had in December planned to organise extra classes from the next academic session for students coming from the economically weaker section (EWS) of the society.

As per the plan, coaching will be provided to the students of class Sixth to Eighth (VI-VII).But till date the policy has not seen the light of the day, the tussle with in the government with bureaucrats versus politician has delayed the work.

"We are planning to provide free coaching classes to the students promoted to the next class under the scheme of ‘No Detention Policy’. Soon, I will present the idea to the Chief Minister for approval,” social welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said.According to the Central Board of Secondary Education, nearly 15,000 students failed in the class ten exam last year. The project in the long run is aimed at improving the pass percentage of ninth and tenth class  in Delhi schools.
